First of all and most importantly make use of the film guide in your Glance book, it is there to help you!
Start with part one, the general introduction, don’t allow this to get too long, you do not have to tell the whole narrative/story of the film again, a brief summary will be fine.
Part two is the longer middle section of the report. Amy is a slightly unusual film in that it is a documentary some of the sections in part two of the guide are not relevant, Choose to focus on three of the following sections of the guide:
- Editing and montage
- Music/sound effects
- Realism (Everyone should choose this as one of their three)
- Cultural/period setting
Part three should be a summing up of your opinions of the film, its strengths and weaknesses. Be honest, and illustrate your opinions with examples from the film.
Some additional questions to also consider:
How emotionally involved in the film did you feel that you were?
How long should it all be?
For a long report 1000-1200 words long use the division below as a rough guide:
Part One: 200-250 words
Part Two: 600-700 words
Part Three: 200-250 words
Do think about the overall presentation of the report
This is obviously a true story how big an effect did this fact have on your involvement in the film?
As a whole do you feel Amy is presented as a hero or a victim in the film? Explain your answer.
How do you feel about the way Amy’s father is presented in the film?
Did you find/experience the film as shocking/confrontational in any way? Why was this?
